A prominent social media content creator has been taken into custody following a multi-agency manhunt, facing severe charges related to child protection laws and caste-based atrocities. The arrest occurred in the Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh, concluding an operation that spanned multiple jurisdictions and involved law enforcement personnel from the capital.
The suspect, identified as Swatantra Bhardwaj, drew police scrutiny after a violent altercation during a public demonstration. Investigators stated that Bhardwaj allegedly attacked the parent of a student activist who was participating in the protest. Following the incident, the individual reportedly used various online platforms to broadcast his actions, publicly boasting about the physical confrontation and claiming to possess influential political connections.
As law enforcement agencies began closing in, new legal challenges emerged for the content creator. Authorities filed additional First Information Reports against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, commonly known as the POCSO Act, as well as legislation designed to prevent atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. These serious legal filings significantly escalated the severity of the case against him.
Prior to his apprehension, the suspect attempted to evade law enforcement by hiding out in the region. According to police findings, he managed to secure temporary shelter by staying with a local resident in Bulandshahr. Despite these efforts to elude authorities, intelligence gathering and coordination between local police and Delhi law enforcement ultimately pinpointed his location.
Officers from the Delhi Police department successfully executed the apprehension on Friday. The suspect is now facing a formal judicial process regarding the multiple charges filed against him. Legal experts note that the combination of assault allegations, POCSO violations, and SC/ST Act charges will present a complex challenge for his defense as the investigation proceeds.
