Coventry City have completed the transfer of central defender Ethan Pinnock from Premier League rivals Brentford. The Jamaica international moves to the Sky Blues for an undisclosed fee, though estimates place the financial package at approximately six million pounds.
The 33-year-old defender enters this new chapter after spending seven years with the West London club. He originally arrived at Brentford from Barnsley in 2019 and went on to make 216 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net 12 times.
During his time at Brentford, Pinnock played a central role in helping the team achieve promotion to the English top flight. However, his playing time decreased during the previous campaign, when he featured in just eight matches across all competitions. He was omitted from the matchday squad for Brentford's opening fixture of the current season against Tottenham Hotspur.
Entering the final twelve months of his previous contract, Pinnock decided to seek a fresh opportunity. He becomes the second player to make the direct switch from Brentford to Coventry this summer, following the arrival of midfielder Frank Onyeka.
Speaking about his decision to change clubs, Pinnock expressed enthusiasm for the challenge ahead. He noted the significance of Coventry returning to the Premier League after a long absence and stated his eagerness to contribute to the squad.
Coventry City have invested heavily ahead of the current campaign, with total spending surpassing one hundred million pounds. Pinnock represents the club's tenth addition of the transfer window and serves as their second defensive reinforcement following the July acquisition of Aurele Amenda from Eintracht Frankfurt.
